Auto Transport: Getting Your Car Where You're Going If you are considering moving cross country, you have to worry about getting more than your dishes to your new place. You car or truck, or whatever else you drive, needs to come with you too, and that's where you'll need to find a good auto transport company. I'll say that again: a good auto transport company, because nothing will be more aggravating on the day you get to your new home than if your car is damaged en route--not even a couple broken dishes. |

The first thing to do is to shop around. There are many sites on the net that will give you auto transport quotes--but be careful. You want to enter all of your information precisely and correctly to make sure that you get an accurate quote. After you get quotes, you can talk to the companies directly: ring them up and speak with their representatives to get the nitty gritty of how they do business. Things to pay special attention to are when your car will be picked up, how they go about getting paid, how many different carriers your vehicle will go through, how many cars they do annually, etc. Once you've narrowed your auto transport options down to a few companies you can research them in depth and make sure that they are legit. To do this, check their record with the better business bureau.

After you've chosen which auto transport carrier to go with you need to prep you vehicle to be in someone else's hands. Take out anything that is valuable. Wash the car and inspect it, taking note of its condition. When the driver comes to pick up your car, go over it with him, and make sure that you get some sort of contractual agreement on the car's original condition. The same goes for when your car gets delivered at your new home: go over the car again with the driver and make sure that all's well before you sign anything confirming delivery in acceptable condition.
If you play it safe, you can auto transport your car cross country safely and without a hang-up--without driving it yourself. |
