The Reasons You Should Consider Using Enclosed Versus Open Auto Shipping
The things that happen in life are a result of the choices we make. You always want to make the right choice, and a major part of making a good choice is taking the time to weigh all of your options before jumping into the fray. This is no different when you are deciding on which auto transport company to use. One of the options you should consider when using auto transport services will be whether or not you are using enclosed versus open shipping. You should know the difference and how they will impact your situation.

Know the difference before you even decide. What are the differences between open transport and enclosed shipping? Simply put, open transport is simply where your vehicle is shipped on the back of a car carrier, while enclosed transport places your vehicle inside a trailer when it is ready to be moved. These two methods of transport will have an impact on how much you pay as well as how much service you receive.

Open transport on a car carrier is less expensive than enclosed shipping,  but it also carries more risks. Perhaps you have seen these carriers out on the road, with six to eight vehicles on the back that are being transported at a time? While this method is in fact cheaper, there are many risks that you should be aware of. Debris from the road or even other vehicles may come into contact with your car, and that could cause some surface scratches or even damage. If you send your car off immaculate, you would expect to receive it in the same condition. In addition, if the carrier vehicle were to become involved in an accident, there could be major holdups and it is possible for your vehicle to sustain greater damage since it is unprotected.

So why use enclosed transport? An enclosed trailer around your vehicle will provide protection from road debris and from the elements, and that prevents damage to your vehicle in every case. Also, if the carrier gets into a fender bender with another vehicle, the trailer will often absorb the impact, leaving your car without a dent or scratch on it. Enclosed transport is more expensive, but you would want to keep your vehicle from becoming damaged as much as possible, right? If you own a valuable car, such as an expensive imported model or a vintage model, keeping these vehicles as intact as possible keeps them safe as well, so it is definitely worth the little bit of extra money to ensure that your vehicle is as protected as possible.
